Messengers of Mercy encourages lay people to use their
skills, natural abilities, and experience in becoming personally
involved in missions outreach. The various ministries listed in
this section are practical ways in which lay people can become involved
in reaching our world for Jesus Christ.
M.O.M. is involved in working alongside our member partners in sending
20-foot and 40-foot cargo containers overseas filled with humanitarian
aid to existing mission ministries. These containers are prepared
only after detailed information is received and the overseas mission
ministry evaluated as to its specific needs and the feasibility
of sending a container to meet those needs.
Each year hundreds of believers in Jesus Christ go out on short
term mission trips. They use various platforms of ministry: medicine,
education, music, drama, art, etc. Though different in format, the
purpose is the same: to obey Christ’s command to “ go
and make disciples of all nations”. (Matt. 28:19) As a partner
member of M.O.M. , those going out on mission trips are equipped
with a multitude of resources and information enabling them to be
more effective in their mission outreach. These benefits are only
available to M.O.M. members. We encourage people to contact us to
become partners of M.O.M. and equip their local church to become
more efficient and productive in their mission outreach.
English as a Foreign Language (EFL) is a ministry which uses the
vehicle of language to bring those learning English to a saving
knowledge of Jesus Christ. The Ohana Foundation in CA will provide
M.O.M. with a resource using audio visual communication to teach
English.
This ministry was developed with the goal of reaching young
couples, primarily in foreign countries, with the gospel of Jesus
Christ and helping them to lay a strong foundation for a Christian
marriage. A Marriage Preparation Workshop Manual, “Transforming
Reflection” has been written by Katy Kang, a licensed Marriage
and Family Therapist, and B.J. Kim. This program is intended to
be taught over a period of 8 consecutive weeks in 90-minute sessions
by a trained Facilitator. When couples complete the course, they
will have the opportunity to use wedding clothes (dress, suit, tie,
shoes, etc.) which have been supplied to the local missionary through
M.O.M. so that they can enjoy a beautiful wedding ceremony.
“When he arrived and saw this proof of God’s favor (upon
the Gentiles) he was filled with joy and encouraged the believers
to stay true to the Lord. Barnabas was a good man, full of the Holy
Spirit and strong in faith.” (Acts 11:23-24)
Barnabas was a man full of the Spirit, encouraging and ministering
to the early church.
The Barnabas Project has as its goal to establish FIVE Retreat Centers
around the world, starting in Hungary or Czechkoslovakia. (Targeted
areas are: Kyrgyzstan, Bangladesh, Turkey, and Kenya.) They will
be places of retreat for the missionary or one in full time service
for our Lord to come and be refreshed and encouraged. These retreat
centers will provide a place to come away, to rest, and be renewed
in body and soul.

course, International School of Ministry (ISOM) is a 1 ½
year course. Both are geared towards teaching Bible courses to lay
people in the local church for the development of leaders and pastors.
(BTCP uses lecturers, ISOM uses video tapes.)

Books from local libraries, schools, churches, and individuals
are donated to M.O.M. and collected by volunteers. They are then
sent overseas to developing libraries and schools in cooperation
with the existing mission ministries overseas. A guideline of the
books which are appropriate for overseas use and other specifics
are provided in detail through M.O.M. .
Cans are placed by M.O.M. volunteers at local merchant shops (dry
cleaners, convenient stores, gas stations, etc.) to collect coins
for the desperately needy people of N. Korea. These cans are clearly
labeled and a small flyer is displayed with them to explain the
purpose of the fund raising.
This New York ministry of M.O.M. uses the man power of prison inmates
on parole to refurbish used toner cartridges. The used toner cartridges
are collected all over the United States and sent to a location
where they are refurbished. The purpose is to teach these men of
the love Jesus Christ for them while at the same time they are performing
a useful and productive task and earning some income.
This is a ministry of resource: Mr. John C. Kim is very knowledgeable
about various water sources for overseas implementation of wells
and drinking water in third world countries. He has traveled to
Kenya and personally been a part of building and implementing water
sources.
This ministry is geared towards the development of teaching and
equipping nationals in foreign countries with the necessary means
of earning income to provide for their families. Vocational schools
offer a variety of classes and resources: beauty school (hair salon),
sewing, auto mechanic, carpentry, computer skills, etc.
